May Events at Life Force Chiropractic: Movement, Mobility, and Yoga Nidra in Pleasant Hill
There's a category of group practice that isn't a workout, isn't a class, isn't quite therapy. It's something quieter and slower than what most studio schedules in the East Bay offer.
Small-group sessions, capped at 5 to 8 people, held at the Pleasant Hill office, built around nervous system care rather than performance or output.
The next session in the Movement & Mobility Series on Saturday, May 16, and the monthly Yoga Nidra evening on Saturday, May 23. Both are open to people new to this kind of work and to people who've been practicing for years.
Here's what each one is, and how to know if it's for you.
What You've Probably Already Tried
You've stretched. Maybe done yoga for years. Tried meditation apps and breathwork and cold plunges. You've seen a therapist, possibly more than one, and talked through what's there.
Some of it has helped. Some of it has touched something. But there's still something your body is holding that words haven't fully reached. Something that comes back when you're tired, or stressed, or standing in your kitchen at 10pm with your shoulders somewhere near your ears.
That's usually the moment people start researching somatic therapy. Or body-based chiropractic. Or both.
You're not looking to numb the feeling or fix yourself. You're looking for care that actually understands what it means to live in a nervous system that's been holding on for a long time.
The Movement & Mobility Series — Saturday, May 16
The Movement & Mobility Series runs as a standalone session each month, with a different anatomical focus each time. Past themes have included freeing the hips and lengthening the spine, opening the chest and shoulders, and releasing the neck and jaw. Each session is self-contained. You don't need to have attended previous ones.
The format is small, intentional, and slower than most movement classes. Capped at 5 attendees, which means Dr. Alandi can offer hands-on adjustments and personal cues throughout. The sequence is built around gentle, accessible movements that work with the body's natural ranges, not against them.
This series tends to attract people who:
• Spend long hours at a desk and feel the cumulative stiffness in their hips, shoulders, or back
• Have tried higher-intensity yoga or pilates and want something gentler
• Are recovering from injury and want supervised movement that won't aggravate it
• Are managing chronic tension patterns and want a regular practice that addresses them
• Have a daily mobility practice but want the depth that small-group, hands-on guidance offers
You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to know what mobility work is. You don't need to wear specific clothing beyond comfortable layers.

Yoga Nidra — Saturday, May 23
Yoga nidra is sometimes called yogic sleep, but the name doesn't quite capture what it is. It's a guided practice of conscious rest, done lying down, where the body slows enough to drop into states it usually only reaches in deep sleep, while the mind remains gently aware.
People typically leave sessions feeling like the tension they walked in with has been turned down a few notches, sometimes more. Many describe a sense of having been more rested by the practice than the time on the clock would suggest.
The monthly afternoon sessions at Life Force are guided by Dr. Alandi, who's been practicing yoga nidra herself for years and brings the same attention to these gatherings that she brings to one-on-one care. The format is unrushed. You arrive, you settle on a mat with whatever bolsters and blankets help your body feel held, the lights soften, and the practice begins.
This event tends to attract people who:
Have trouble fully resting, even when they have time to
Wake up tired despite getting hours of sleep
Are working through a stressful chapter and need a regular reset
Have tried meditation and found it harder than they expected
Want to learn yoga nidra in a guided setting before practicing it at home
No experience necessary. No previous yoga or meditation practice required. The work is done lying down, fully clothed, with no physical demands.

What to Bring and What to Expect
Both events are held at the Pleasant Hill office. Here's what's useful to know.
For the Movement & Mobility Series on May 16:
Wear comfortable layers you can move in. Bring a water bottle. The studio provides mats, props, and any equipment used in the session.
For Yoga Nidra on May 23:
Wear something cozy you can rest in for an hour. The studio provides mats, bolsters, blankets, and eye pillows, but you're welcome to bring your own if you have favorites. Most people find that arriving with a few minutes to settle in beforehand helps the body drop into the practice more fully.
Arrival and parking:
The Pleasant Hill office is accessible from the broader East Bay including Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Concord, Orinda, Alamo, and Danville. Most clients drive 5 to 25 minutes for sessions. Parking is straightforward.
Pre-registration:
Required for both events, due to the small group caps. Once a session is full, a waitlist opens. People do occasionally cancel, so the waitlist is worth joining.
Other Ways to Work With This Practice
If May 16 or May 23 doesn't fit your schedule, or you're looking for something more individualized:
One-on-one chiropractic care. Sessions are 30 or 60 minutes at the Pleasant Hill or San Francisco office. Same gentle, nervous-system-centered approach as the group events. Book a session.
Online practices. For people outside the East Bay or who prefer to work at home, the Yoga Nidra at Home practice guide ($35) and the 12-day guided nervous system regulation program ($50) are direct ways to practice with Dr. Alandi's guidance.
Free starting point. Our free 5-Day Mindful Reset Guide is a small introduction to the kind of practice these events deepen, available through June 30 to anyone who joins the newsletter.

Spots are limited by design. The small group cap is what makes the experience what it is, and the trade-off is that registration tends to fill in advance, especially for the Movement & Mobility Series.
If neither May date works, the events page lists upcoming sessions and a waitlist option for any session that's full.
The body knows how to settle. Sometimes it just needs a small group, a slow pace, and the right kind of guidance to remember.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When are the May 2026 events at Life Force Chiropractic?
A: Movement & Mobility Series is Saturday, May 16. Monthly Yoga Nidra is Saturday, May 23. Both are held at the Pleasant Hill office. Pre-registration is required for both, due to small group caps.
Q: Do I need experience with yoga or meditation to attend these events?
A: No. Both the Movement & Mobility Series and the monthly Yoga Nidra event are designed to be accessible to people with no previous experience. The pace is unhurried and the formats are forgiving. Many attendees come specifically because other practices have felt too intimidating.
Q: Are these events appropriate for people with injuries or chronic pain?
A: In most cases, yes. The Movement & Mobility Series is gentle by design, and modifications are offered. Yoga nidra is done lying down with no physical demands. For a specific concern, contact the practice before registering.
Q: What is yoga nidra?
A: Yoga nidra is a guided practice of conscious rest, done lying down. The body slows into states usually only reached in deep sleep, while the mind remains gently aware. Most attendees leave feeling significantly more rested than the practice's length would suggest.
Q: How are these different from a regular yoga class?
A: A typical yoga class focuses on the asana sequence, often at a moderate-to-vigorous pace, in a larger group. The Movement & Mobility Series is slower, smaller (capped at 5), and built around nervous-system-informed mobility. Yoga Nidra is purely a guided rest practice, no movement at all.
Q: What's the cancellation policy?
A: Pre-registration secures your spot. Because the events are capped, cancellations 48 hours or less before the session are typically non-refundable. Specific policies are listed at registration.
Q: How often are these events held?
A: The Movement & Mobility Series runs once a month with a different anatomical theme each session. Yoga Nidra runs once a month. Sound Bath & Reiki events are scheduled periodically. Check the events page for the full calendar.
